Details: Responding to hundreds of complaints, the City of Tucson has decided to un-cancel the annual fireworks celebration at A mountain.According to a press release by the City, in the last 24 hours, Mayor Bob Walkup and City Councilmember Karin Uhlich secured commitments of more than $65,000 for the 4th of July Celebration from:Pascua Yaqui Tribe - $20,000Desert Diamond Casino - $10,000Tucson Electric Power - $10,000Cox Communications - $10,000Arizona Builder's Alliance - $3,000Several anonymous donors - $12,500Funds collected in addition to what is necessary for this year's celebration will be put in a dedicated fund for future 4th of July celebrations. Additional contributions to the effort can be made by contacting either the Mayor's office at 791-4201 or the Ward III Council Office at 791-4711."Tucsonans will be able to enjoy the celebration of our nation's independence with a fantastic fireworks display," said Uhlich. "I am extremely grateful to our private donors for stepping up to the plate in such a significant way."Stated Mayor Walkup, "The coming together of the private sector with the public sector to ensure we can celebrate the 4th of July together, illustrates the strength of our community. The show will go on!"
