Details:The group that puts on a show every Independence Day in McIntire Park says it's throwing in the towel.The Save the Fireworks committee says after this July 4 th it will no longer be in charge of the festival. The group says a tough economy and fundraising problems are to blame.But they hope a corporation or Charlottesville and Albemarle County will step in to keep the show going. Dave Phillips, a member of the committee, said, "We pretty much have a turn key operation that we would be willing to turn over at no charge to that group and let them run it."Charlottesville and Albemarle County leaders say they are open to the idea of a partnership to run the festival.The event costs about $40,000 each year.
