Great! Status of 4th of July firework displays in Polk County cities
This is the status of firework displays in Polk County cities:
Auburndale: Still needs about $3,300 to have the $7,500 firework display the city usually has on Lake Ariana. The city is looking for donations from the public to help make up the difference.
Bartow: The city's Star Spangled Tribute to America will take place from 3:45 TO 9:30 p.m. July 4 at Mosaic Park. The cost of fireworks last year was $12,000 and the budget is expected to remain around that number this year.
Dundee: Lighting up the Shore of Lake Marie will take place from 3 to 10 p.m. July 4, including a $20,000 fireworks display, games and live music.
Eagle Lake: The city's Hometown Patriotic Celebration will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. June 27. It includes a $5,000 fireworks display, music, games and food.
Fort Meade: The usual $10,000 fireworks display has been cancelled this year because of costs. The city will still have an old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration which will include food, games and events from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 4 to 2:30 p.m. at the Outdoor Recreation Center on U.S. 98 East.
Frostproof: As of right now, neither the Chamber of Commerce nor the city has the money for a fireworks display. A youth group is working on acquiring the money.
Haines City: Thunder on the Ridge at Lake Eva Park will take place July 4. It will include a fireworks display, games, food and music with The Commodores as the main performers.
Lake Hamilton: The Light up the Sky for the Fourth of July Celebration will be held from at 3 p.m. to dark July 4 at Bruce Martin Ball Field. The event includes a $7,500 fireworks display.
Lakeland: The city's usual Fourth of July celebration Red, White and Kaboom at Lake Mirror Park has been canceled due to the cost that usually runs between $20,000 and $25,000 each year. Fireworks will still take place at Joker Marchant Stadium after the baseball game on July 4.
Lake Wales: The Independence Day Celebration on Lake Wailes will take place from 2 to 9 p.m. July 4 and include a $10,000 fireworks display.
Mulberry: The decision about a fireworks display is still up in the air and will most likely be made at Thursday's city meeting. The cost is still unknown.
Winter Haven: Rock n' Freedom Fest will take place July 3 at Martin Luther King Jr. Park on Lake Silver. It will include a $12,500 fireworks display. The city has its celebration the day before the holiday to receive a reduced rate on the fireworks.
