Details: It’s another great weekend on historic River Street as The Savannah Waterfront Association announces First Saturday on the River presented by Verizon Wireless and Southern Eagle Distributing! Head down to the riverfront and start the weekend off right with a Crack! Boom! Bang as Wet Willies First Friday Fireworks light up the sky Friday night, June 5 at 9:30 pm.Get your chores done early and head back to the river Saturday morning! This pre-summer festival featuring regional Arts & Crafts exhibitors offers a variety of unique and original works as well as DJ’s-to-Go, Savannah Kettle Corn, Repicci’s Italian Ice and more! Be sure to catch a free ride on dottie – Savannah’s very own historic streetcar and part of the DOT transportation system. She’s green and clean and will save your feet from the hot cobblestones as you travel back and forth along River Street with stops all along the way!Savannah Art Association and Companion Animal Aid will be our featured non-profits on site this weekend. You can have your picture taken with a replica of everyone’s favorite VW - Herbie (the love bug)! Cost is $ 5.00 framed, $ 3.00 unframed. All proceeds benefit abused and abandoned animals in our area.You’ll find it all on Savannah’s historic River Street Saturday, June 6, from 9 am until 7 pm. All River Street Festivals are free and open to the public. The Savannah Waterfront Association’s First Saturday is presented by Verizon Wireless and Southern Eagle Distributing and is Sponsored by Wet Willies, Coca-Cola, Wachovia, AGC Gutter Company, The Real Yellow Pages and your friends at Cumulus Broadcasting Savannah! The Savannah Waterfront Association promotes the eclectic vitality of the shops, restaurants, pubs and hotels that create the one-of-a-kind, family-friendly experience found nowhere else in the world than historic River Street. The SWA is a 501 (c)(3) private organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of historic River Street for more than 30 years and has been a integral partner on such projects as First Friday Fireworks, public docks, the hospitality center, streetcar, Maritime History Panel project and other improvements to the waterfront. Through sponsorship, membership and events, the SWA produces and funds improvements, firework shows and the world class River Street festival series at no cost to the public.
