Details: Shirland's 4th of July celebration will be a bit scaled down this year. There are no games or fireworks because of economic reasons and due to fewer volunteers.
However, the fireman's auxiliary will still have a celebration on Saturday, July 4th at Shirland Grade School. The 5K run and walk starts at 7:00 a.m., with sign-ups starting at 6:00 a.m. Shirland Methodist Church will hold its pancake breakfast from 6 - 9 a.m. The parade starts at 10:00, then lunch is served from 11 - 1 p.m. at the school.
Shirland asks residents to support Durand's afternoon activities, including fireworks which start at dusk.
