Voldemort's Revenge?! Fire Torches Harry Potter Set
A pyrotechnic stunt gong wrong caused a small blaze to break out on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at the U.K.'s Leavesden Film Studios.
No castmembers, including stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, were present during the Friday-evening fire. Thankfully, there were no injuries or any damaged equipment.
And there's no word whether Hagrid is wanted for questioning.
"It was a big special-effects scene. Unfortunately, there was a small fire as a result of that," a Potter spokesman told the Watford Observer. "As a precaution, as we had already mobilized our own in-house fire team who had it under control, the fire brigade was called and it was put out in under an hour."
The mishap took place during second-unit filming of an explosion that was part of Deathly Hallows' climactic battle sequence at Hogwarts.
The rep also dismissed unsubstantiated reports (Rita Skeeter, perhaps?) that parts of Leavesden Studios had burned as well.
"The idea that fire ripped through Leavesden Studios is so far from the truth...it's untrue. It was a very isolated incident."
Damage was estimated to be around $150,000.
This isn't the first incident to befall the production. Radcliffe's stunt double was partially paralyzed two months ago after suffering a serious back injury.
The final Harry Potter installment is being split into two films with Part One due out Nov. 19 and Part Two hitting theaters July 15, 2011.
