More fireworks, more days to buy, possible in Neb.
State lawmakers on Friday gave first-round approval to a bill (LB880) that would end the requirement that the state fire marshal test fireworks before they are sold.
Federal testing would instead be relied upon, increasing the types of available fireworks.
But some fireworks banned now - such as bottle rockets - would still be banned. Also, sparklers on gold or silver wires would be banned, along with firecrackers with more than 50 milligrams of explosives, nighttime parachutes, and several other fireworks.
The bill would also allow fireworks to be sold during the three days leading up to New Year's Day.
