Fireworks, parades and holiday activities in East Hampton, NY

Despite concerns that the event might be canceled due to lack of funds, the Clamshell Foundation will, as planned, hold its annual fireworks celebration on Saturday, July 18, just after 9 p.m. on Three Mile Harbor Road in East Hampton. The foundation is still accepting donations to help with the cost: checks should be payable to The Clamshell Foundation and sent c/o Bonac Fireworks, P.O. Box 2725, East Hampton, NY 11937. East Hampton Fire Department’s fireworks, however, have again been postponed until Labor Day weekend, Saturday, September 5, at approximately 8:30 p.m. The view is best from Main Beach, but can also be seen from Wilborg’s Beach. Vehicle access to the show will be available from Georgica Beach. For more information, call 324-4150.

No fireworks, but the golf club at Montauk Downs State Park will offer a barbecue and party on Saturday, July 4, at 7 p.m., with food, live music, prizes, a cash bar and glow-in-the-dark golf. Reservations are suggested. Call 668-1100.

Fireworks Display Company: Grucci fireworks
A Grucci fireworks display will be held over Shinnecock Bay on Meadow Lane in Southampton on Friday, July 3 (rain date Sunday, July 5), at dusk as part of the “American Picnic,” the annual benefit for the Southampton Fresh Air Home at a private home on Meadow Lane. The Commission of Veterans Patriotic Events will hold its annual regional Fourth of July parade on Saturday, July 4. The parade will start at 10 a.m. from the railroad plaza in Southampton and end on Windmill Lane. This year’s parade, themed “What Is America to Me?” will be led by Grand Marshal Felix Novelli, a World War II veteran from Southampton. Entries include Mother Cabrini High School Drum Corps, Saffron United Pipes, Southampton Hospital, and Miss Shinnecock Pageant girls, among many other local and civic organizations. The public should note that parking is prohibited at the Southampton train station on Saturday, July 4, and vehicles must be removed from the parking area no later than 4 a.m. that morning. Any vehicles left in the lot will be impounded by the Southampton Village Police Department at police headquarters, 151 Windmill Lane, Southampton, and released at the conclusion of the parade.

The North Sea Fire Department will host its 62nd annual carnival from Wednesday, July 1, through Sunday, July 5, from 7 to 11 p.m. each night at the grounds on Noyac Road near the Community House in North Sea. A fireworks display is planned at approximately 9 p.m. on both July 3 and July 5. Bracelet nights for the carnival are July 1, 2 and 4. For more information, call 283-3629.
