Carlisle's summer fireworks are in jeopardy of fizzling out because of a lack of donations.
Mayor Kirk Wilson said the show will have to be canceled if the borough cannot raise an additional $20,000 for the event by May 29.
The borough needs $25,000 to put on a show comparable to those of past years, but it has raised only $5,000 so far, Wilson said.

He blamed the poor economy for the fundraising difficulties. In the past, between 20 and 25 donors usually gave money for the show, but only five donors have pledged funds this year, he said.
The fireworks are scheduled to be launched from Carlisle Fairgrounds at 9:30 p.m. July 3. Previous shows have lasted more than 20 minutes.
Although the borough would consider shortening the show this year to cut the expense, it still must raise more money to put on even a limited display, Wilson said.
