The end of the year is coming again, strong sales season is preparing for New Year.

For nearly a year, haze, Yichang bridge collapse, the implementation of the new national standard……., In the New Year, market suffered cold reality, in the first half of this year, production companies hesitant to push slow production on track time, operating companies elongated order time, a wait and see market pessimism spread apart in the industry.

A person who is in charge on the company even for enterprises to develop a “three no”: no additional investment, not to scale, keeping their children not involved in fireworks industry.

However, after concerns that with the approaching Chinese New Year sales season, the temptation of the season and hope for the market, being watered down with pessimism.

“According to past experience, the Chinese New Year in January, sales was worse. The New Year on February sells better, this year the Chinese New Year is January 31, with a lot of corporate restructuring, productivity declined, personal opinion, cannot get the case goods during New Year is estimated to occur. “in front of the order, as stated in another company official said,” the production, the overtime “, the factory will still work overtime.

Producers only keep old customers’ orders, do not accept new customers order

November 6, in the warm sun of late autumn, one of town call jingang in Liuyang City, busy manufacture but orderly, six workers were busy loading, in the field next to the floor, there are four parked vehicles waiting for loading.

According to the person who is in charge of the factory, although the market situation is bad, but because of its own products in the market has a mature brand influence, this year the amount of orders on the first eight months are close to the amount from last year, after the summer holiday, the enterprise became very busy.

” last year has Leap month, the summer holiday unlike this year so long, compared to last year, the factory production time nearly two months less than last year, while orders increased by about 20%.” In order delta front, which companies in order to ensure the old customer orders, while rejecting some of the new order.

“This year compared to previous years, although the market environment has changed, because of industrial restructuring and upgrading, and the introduction of a new national standard, on the whole situation, production will decline. Together with some other main producing capacity is also reduced, as this year’s market sales provides a buffer zone. “within the industry a professional manager who predicted, in the past of the end of year could not get the goods phenomenon will appear this year, overall sales will not have a big decline.

Operating companies into one month ahead of the peak of the transfer cargo

In the visiting, according to the bullish market this year, there is more people than the above-mentioned producers, one of southwest province, a provincial company executives said in an interview also expressed a similar view.

“From the collection on market information, we can see 2 inches less than usual products, on national standard products are increased.” The executive said, in addition, the local market needs did not change a lot.

Consider, in the end of this year may be tight supply, transportation is relatively concentrated, the overall bullish, beginning in September, the operating company began producing enterprises are concentrated from Liuyang transfer cargo, “at past years before October 1, shipped only a few hundred million, compared to last year, this year the shipments grew by 50 percent. ”

Information obtained from the logistics channels also seems to confirm the argument of the executive: the National Day as boundaries, from Liuyang sent to the province than before the National Day, the logistics costs rose 3,000 yuan, while the increase for the same period in previous years, logistics costs was between 1500 yuan and 2,000 yuan. “We usually say that the Chinese New Year peak selling season is September to December, but in previous years, transfer cargo concentrated period is from November began, after the National Day this year, the company operates transfer cargo will enter the concentrated time.” Liuyang Fireworks Bureau Market Branch relevant responsible person said.

some relative news

Much inventory do not know how to do

In March of this year, the implementation of the new national standard. Product type, packaging and specifications had a big adjustment.

Currently, the industry also have some rumors about the State Administration of Work Safety is in the northern province to do some unannounced visits, the investigation found a number of large-diameter, large doses of the product, it is said also requires companies to haulage out all the products from warehouse which is in stock companies operating in the province.

“It seems that the state of play hardball over product specifications, in the long run, we also maintain to help fireworks industry developing, however, some products in warehouse were made before the implementation of the new national standard production, now the factory are afraid to sell, so the factory stocks more products, our current production has been effect, how to do this? “this is from a company’s production director said.

Early delivery period does not mean that the market recovery

Production companies and operating companies changed pessimistic in the first half, are excited to prepare for the upcoming season, the fireworks industry weakness are long gone. Then how the market situation is going to be?

“Overall, it is too early to say sales booming.” Several industry sources state, the company operates an early transfer cargo does not mean that the market recovery.

after the accident on Yichang Bridge, fireworks transport channel is jammed, many operating companies transfer does not arrive, the industry said, “personally think that might some of operating companies learned a lesson from this accident and transfer cargo ahead of time.” Secondly, this year the companies produce time is 2 months shorter than last year, orders production and transport is too concentrated, the early peak transfer cargo logistics strategy is also a stagger.

According to the current fireworks industry credit growth mode, the operating companies get payment for early transfer cargo are not many, “All goods are usually sold out before full payment. This year Liuyang companies participated order exhibition, the number of orders  20% more than last year, for enter into new markets businesses, business purchase and sale of the company’s products may be more stringent terms, the stockpile costs will be lower. If it is in full payment way, the operating companies’ transfer goods can be the greatest reflect to the market trends. ”

“Many people would think that goods sent to the company warehouse is flowing into the market, I do not think so, fireworks from producers to consumers need to go through the operating companies and retail outlets, some operating companies usually through extreme pressure to send goods to retail outlets, and it may be contrary to consumer demand. Additionally, reduced the amount of wind frugal buy, and environmental awareness letting fireworks discharge environment variables exist. ”

Based on this, a company in charge of the Eastern Liuyang person think that the industry this year will not recover to two or three years ago the situation like real production does not win and shipped not win, the market as a whole, the most optimistic is stay the same level with last year.

Dominator Wins 1st Place at PGI with Stunning Pyromusical!

Dominator Fireworks assembled their team of expert choreographers and technicians again for the PGI crowd in August at the Red River Fairgrounds in Fargo, ND.  The team pulled off an amazing feat shooting displays on back to back nights winning 1st place in Best of Show for the week with their Tuesday evening pyromusical, and then came right back and shot an even larger display on Wednesday night!

Huge thanks to Lew’s fireworks for the assist from many of their hard working shooters on these shows!  This was probably the best week of weather we have ever had for setting up and shooting displays I don’t think we saw rain one time, even though the area saw a deluge just before our arrival which required some work to repair roads and shoot areas due to mud.

One thing we are very proud of is the fact that Dominator is winning these displays using exclusively our product line, competing against display companies cherry picking the best of the best from several manufacturers! Here is video of both Tuesday and Wednesday nights great displays!  Thanks to YouTube user mojoe88 for the great vids.

Pyrofest 2013 Hartwood Acres, Pittsburgh PA.

Team Dominator member Tim Jameson attended the recent 2nd annual Pyrofest near Pittsburgh PA.  Tim has a ton of experience when it comes to fireworks and particularly pyromusicals, so his expert views on the event are well respected.  Tim resides in MD and had this report when interviewed on the event.

PyroFest

How many people would you estimate attended?
By the time the fireworks displays started, I would say there was in excess of 10,000 attendees.  People started arriving at 3:00 when the gates opened and there was a fairly steady flow of folks arriving throughout the day right up until showtime.
What was the admission?
Admission was $22 for adults, $16 for students under 18, and children 8 & under were free of charge
What area did you watch from, and where would you recommend for the best viewing?
We arrived early and got a great spot about 30′ back from the control table, dead center of the display field.  If you are going to watch the displays, this is the best spot and also provided a good viewing and listening spot for the live music which was playing throughout the afternoon/evening hours.  The concert stage was set up to the side of the display area, facing perpendicular so our spot was great for both.  The V.I.P section did not impress me much as it is located towards the back of the viewing area and sits a little down hill from the main display site.  The main advantage I saw for the V.I.P. section was it had it’s own beer stand, aside from that, I would prefer to sit where we were.
How long did the 3 shows last combined from start to finish?
There were actually several pyrotechnic “events”.  A short daytime display which was about 3 minutes in duration was fired around 7:00 pm.  There was a tribute to the troops segment which consisted of a few devices which was fired around 8:00.  Phantom Fireworks fired a product demo, traditional style display, at 8:45 with the main displays of the evening beginning at 9:00.  The Fantasy in the Sky display was approximately 8 minutes in duration, followed by a 13 minute display fired by Ricardo Caballer Ricasa, and the night ended with a 22 minute display fired by Pyrotechnico.
How is the parking situation, any tips for future attendees?
If you arrived early, parking at the site was a breeze and a very short walk into the main venue.  Arriving later meant parking towards the rear of the park and a fairly long walk into the venue.  Those I talked to who parked off-site and were shuttled over were less than happy at the wait times to exit.  Exiting for those who parked on-site was slow but well organized.
How would you rate the over all venue / shoot site for this event?  Short description why?
The size of the venue was excellent, plenty of room for everyone to not feel cramped, but not the greatest venue for fireworks.  The “frontage” part of the display area dropped off from left to right about 20′ over a 600′ stretch which wasn’t bad, but the shells and larger comets/mines had to be fired from behind a section of trees towards the rear of the display area which dropped off pretty good.  This caused shells to appear to break lower in the sky, but did not hurt the overall performance of the displays.  More limited what devices they could use in their displays than anything.  Caballer was the only display which attempted to use large bore mines.  Fortunately, the quality of their product is at such a level as to pull it off.  Not sure typical Chinese product would have reached heights needed to be seen from above the tree line.
How far from the displays were you, and how was the sound system?
I would say we were approximately 200′ from the frontage.  The sound system was outstanding.  Pyrotecnico brought in a huge portable stage complete with concert level sound.  Probably the best sound I’ve ever encountered at a fireworks display.
What show was your favorite of the night and what was the most memorable scene?
For me personally, Ricardo Caballer Ricasa’s display was easy the favorite of the night.  The choreography was outstanding, product level was second to none, and the soundtrack was very powerful.  Put that all together and you see why they are easily one of the top pyrotechnic companies in the world.  It is too hard to pick out one scene from the display, it was just that good.  The “Alice” segment of the show was very dramatic, one of the best combinations of music and fireworks I’ve ever witnessed.  The crackle segment at the end of the 3rd song set was unbelievable and I cannot even begin to describe the feelings stirred within me during the finale.  Like I said, there is a reason this company is one of the best in the world and they put it all on display that night.
Which show would you rate the best soundtrack of the night?
This is a very tough call.  Caballer’s dramatic, powerful soundtrack was probably my favorite since that style is my preference for my own soundtracks, but all three soundtracks were solid.  The Fantasy in the Sky display was a wonderful mix of Disney based theme music and was put together very well.  Pyrotecnico’s Rock Loves II was a fun soundtrack which I could directly relate to as it was based around music of my “time” and they did a nice job of mixing in voice overlays from the artists between music tracks.
Will you attend next year?
To be honest, it would depend on what companies are on the ticket, but if the ticket has the same level of quality on it as this past Pyrofest, there is a good chance.  If the question was “would you recommend this event to others?”, then yes, by all means.  The price of admission was more than fair for the entertainment value.  My fiance and one of my daughters made the trip with me and they had an absolutely wonderful experience.
Thanks Tim!

Dominator Donates large display to Pyrotechnics Guild International

Appleton WI found itself once again the host for the massive PGI convention and Dominator participated with not one, but two fully donated displays in support of the guild.  Set up began a full week ahead of time with a crew of 20+ technicians pulling, matching and prepping product for a very difficult feat…back to back displays on the same night!  Five days into the preparations brought us to Wednesday morning the day of the displays.  We awoke at 5am to the sound of thunder rolling and rain sheeting down the hotel windows.  Not thinking too much of it other than hoping the plastic protection held on our already placed product we raced to the track at first light to assess any possible damages.  Upon arrival the infield of the race track was under 3′ of water all along the back stretch and unfortunately consumed a cope of the other companies frontage and topped some of the 3″ racks!

Ok, our damage was minimal so on with the days set-up.  We were scheduled to shoot both a 1.4 and a 1.3 Pyro Musical at dark and had a mountain of work ahead of us.  As the technicians started showing up and manning their respective tasks an eerie sound of rushing water grew louder by the minute and by 8:15 am a small creek behind the track was topping it’s banks and seeping onto the perimeter of the set up areas for the large displays.  No one thought much of it as he water would have to rise another 6′ to really cause any issues.  Well, fast forward 30 short minutes and the water had risen an amazing 10′ and we had a major flash flood in progress!  Water had completely covered the drag strip where set up was taking place and was beginning to wash away racks and equipment.  The water on the east end of the track rapidly became too deep to drive out, and within minutes the bridge on the west end of the track collapsed under the torrent of water.

Dominator-Flood

Soon a shipping container began floating by and bouncing off telephone poles and a swift water rescue team was deployed and on site to assist with any emergencies.  As fast as the water rose it also receded, but not before taking it’s toll on a large 1.3 pyro musical, about 70% of the displays professional fireworks was lost to water damage and all shows for that day were pushed back to the next day.  Quickly regrouping and salvaging what we could of the product we pushed forward and were able to shoot an excellent pair of displays although somewhat shortened, with the cue count going from 4,000 down to around 2,700!  It did not take long for the “I survived the flood” t-shirts to start selling and the week finished without another hitch.  The videos below are the finished product of the weeks work with no clue of the story above that happened behind the scenes!  All in all we were very pleased with the shows and judging from the crowds reactions so were they!

Team Dominator Fireworks

Team D Logo

We conceived Team Dominator in 2010 and competed in our first official competition at the National Fireworks Association annual convention in Springfield, MO.  Team Dominator consists of 7 active members all with a different skill they bring to the table which equates to a winning combination.  We have choreographers, technicians, carpenters, mechanics and even programmers as team members.

TeamD

This combination of dedication and skills paid off right away with a first place victory in Springfield, MO amongst extreme weather conditions.  The week and days leading up to the competition brought a deluge of rain, as much as 10″ of rain fell on the display site which was basically an old pasture.  Set up brought vehicles and trailers buried in mud, wading through puddles and having to plastic everything, even the ground to set the fireworks on to stop the ground moisture from ruining the fireworks!

A combination of Dominator Fireworks consumer and Dominator Pro 1.4 line was used in the display which was unconventionally scripted to a single song, Meatloafs “Anything for Love” which has several of it’s own highs and lows telling a great story to match with pyrotechnics.  See the resulting video below and feel free to comment with any product questions!
