Details: Middletown-area residents will get to see something in the sky Saturday, Sept. 5, they don’t normally see locally on Labor Day weekend: fireworks.
Street Lethal Motorsports, which has been holding cruise-ins throughout the summer, will have fireworks near the end of their weekend event, said Marcus Martin, the vice president of the company.
The fireworks show will start around 9 or 9:30 p.m. near the business at 6249 Germantown Road. The show is being put on by American Fireworks, based out of Hudson, Ohio, and will last 20 to 30 minutes.
The cruise-in event runs from 3 p.m. to midnight. Other events will include the monster dog eating contest, Martin said, The monster dog is a 14-inch long chili dog that includes steak fries on the dog. It costs $10 to enter the contest. If a person can eat three of these dogs in a row, they get their $10, plus the entire pot of money collected — to say nothing of a full feeling.
“Nobody’s been able to do it yet ... the contest will be ongoing all day to anyone who doesn’t feel like eating for two weeks after that,” Martin said.
A number of bands will play, including the female rock band Jadis, the classic rock band Endangered Perspective, and the Josh Pilot band, which has played at several of the cruise-ins.
Admission to the cruise-in is $7 per car with up to four people, and $10 per car up to eight people.
